Seamus Gill

Séamus Gill is a silversmith whose skills are designing and making work in silver. His jewellery collections are created from flat sheets of silver hammered into opposing curves, which adds a wonderful dimension to the jewellery and makes it very comfortable to wear.

His collections have a signature style of contrasting highly polished silver against a soft hammer texture. The texture is sumptuously plated in 22 carat gold in some collections. .

Séamus Gills work is all about the joy of working directly with the material. All his work is hammered out of a flat sheet of metal using traditional age-old silversmithing skills. He exploits the malleability and the working qualities of the material, stretching and compressing the metal to move it into elegant three dimensional forms. He works in harmony with the natural movement of the material leading to his work being compared to natural forms. He combines the skilful hand of a master craftsman, the eye of a designer and the imagination of an artist.
