Handmade hallmarked solid gold floral pendant on solid gold chain by Martina Hamilton

Star of Bethlehem, nap-at-noon, summer snowflake, sleepy dick, eleven-o'clock lady, grass lily, all popular folk names for a beautiful five pointed white star flower. Popular legend speaks of fragments of the Christmas star of Bethlehem falling to earth and taking root.

While the star flower is well known for its tendency to open for the midday sun - and also to close if the day suddenly grows cloudy or dark - the petals of this stunning pendant in hallmarked solid gold will always be open, gathering light and charming the eye with its lustre and scintillation.

Steeped in folk tradition where ever it is found, for this pendant Martina has clustered together two independent blossoms of this companionable flower on a 2 bell gold trace chain, as an embodiment of enduring love and friendship, of familial links between sisters, between mothers and daughters, aunts and nieces, grandmothers and grand daughters.
