Triscle Brooch. Kieran Cunningham
The triple spiral or triskele is a celtic and pre-celtic symbol found on a number of Irish historical sites such as Newgrange, scholars believe the spirals represent the cycle of life, death and re-birth.
This brooch is 5.5 in diameter and is made from brass, copper and alpaca silver, polished and laquered to prevent tarnishing.
Each piece of jewellery by Kieran Cunningham is original in design and individually handcrafted from raw materials such as sterling silver, yellow gold, brass, copper and alpaca silver, using only a select range of hand-tools to create each piece.
The hand-chiselled scroll effects and shining hammered finishes are an age-old tradition of Celtic jewellery design passed down through the centuries and now almost a thing of the past.
