A rendering in sterling silver of the beautiful tradition reed weaving popular in Ireland each Spring in honour of the pre christian goddess Bríd and the Christian Irish patron saint Brigid. The 1st of February marks the first day of spring, and is also known as Lá Fhéile Bhríde, Brigid's Feast Day. In pre Christian Irish mythology, Brigid was also fire goddess, a goddess of protecrtion, wisdom and poetry. She was also the goddess of Blacksmithing and metal forging, and her feast day is also known as the Celtic celebration Imbolc.
Carried on a sterling silver 2 bell chain this pendant is crafted in County Sligo by Martina Hamilton and her family team of jewellers here in The Cat and The Moon and can be worn year round as a symbol of love and protection and wisdom of Bridgid.
